Introduction
This online event is a seminar jointly organised by the Central Economic Council (Centrale Raad voor het Bedrijfsleven) and UITP (the French-speaking platform of transport authorities).
The webinar will be chaired by Luc DENAYER, Secretary of the Central Economic Council (CRB) & Cédric AUBOIN, Head of the Regional Platform of Authorities (Europe, North America, Africa).
The aim of this webinar is to highlight & showcase:
- The role that public transport authorities can play in enhancing the integration of public transport.
- Best practices that could inspire Belgium to move forward on the path towards stronger public transport integration.
The issue of integrating public transport services across different operators, authorities, and modes of transport involves both technical challenges — such as ticketing, passenger information, or coordination of services — and governance-related questions.
It is essential to consider this institutional dimension to ensure effective and sustainable integration.
Several international experiences offer inspiring models. Two particularly interesting examples will be presented:
- Paris, with the transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM)
- Vienna, with the transport authority Verkehrsverbund Ostregion (VOR)
These presentations will be followed by a guided discussion and an interactive exchange with participants to identify key levers and success factors for integrated transport governance.
