Active Mobility & UITP

The success of public transport depends on active mobility. When integrated, cities can induce a powerful modal shift away from private vehicles. In fact, cities that have high levels of both walking and public transport have the least amount of car traffic.

It’s simple – a pleasant walk or cycle can triple public transport’s catchment area. That reduces car use, cuts emissions, and improves the fiscal viability of public transport, all while making cities more liveable.

However, it’s true that many decisions around active mobility are not in the hands of the public transport sector alone. That’s exactly why we must collaborate.

And at UITP, we bring all types of stakeholders to the table.
