Bus & UITP

There is no sustainable mobility without the bus – whether it be a regular bus, bus rapid transit (BRT), or a trolleybus.

In fact, going by the cities featured in UITP’s Global Urban Mobility Indicators, bus-based modes make up some 48% of all public transport journeys.

Given this, the bus is vital to decarbonising road transport. From biofuels to hydrogen and electric energy, the bus sector has choices to make. And it doesn’t stop there. Today brings challenges like depot adaptation, digitalisation, thermal comfort in a warming climate, and more.

UITP brings together the bus sector to tackle these challenges, and ultimately, make buses accessible, zero-emission, and congestion-free.
