Shared Vehicles & UITP

Traditional public transport modes run on a schedule with fixed routes. But passengers can use shared vehicles to unlock flexible, on-demand, and door-to-door services in both urban and rural areas in a sustainable way.

Whether docked or free-floating, fleets of shared cars, bikes, e-scooters, and more reduce the need to travel by private vehicle – or to own one.

And shared vehicles are booming. Bike-sharing alone is present in around 1,600 cities across over 90 countries. Still, the sector faces challenges like operational restraints and new regulations. To tackle these topics and advance multimodal and sustainable mobility, UITP brings together all stakeholders in the shared vehicles sector.
