The official 2030 bid process begins

The UITP Summit has long been the date of expectation in the calendar of all sector professionals, with each host city becoming the public transport capital of the world during the event activities.

With Hamburg set for a return visit in 2027, and Hong Kong lined up for the 2028 edition, we’re now setting our sights even further towards the future by announcing that the official call to express an interest in hosting the 2030 edition is open.

Will your city kick off the new decade as the 2030 host?

2027, 2028…and beyond

Now that the Summit is annual, we will bring a better balance to our approach of putting people first. And with activities under way for 2027 and 2028, we’re looking to what comes next in our plans.

And with that, we’re ready to talk about 2030, and officially invite you to bid!

Certain rules do apply, so we encourage you to make yourself familiar before bidding.

In January 2027, we will be excited to announce that Budapest, Lisbon or Oslo will become our 2029 hosting destination! Therefore, for the 2030 edition, cities  and UITP members outside the UITP Europe region, are invited and encouraged to share their interest in hosting the 2030 UITP Summit. All interested applicants must send their official expression by email  no later than 15 January 2027, 12:00 pm CET

The applications from the call for expressions will be checked for feasibility.

The successful ones will be invited to official apply, from 20 January 2027, to bid to host of the UITP Summit in 2030

The bidding process is naturally very detailed and informative, and after each step is taken – including the review of those short-listed applicants – the winning host will be announced in Mid January 2028.

Hosting an event of this size and importance represents a major contribution to the economy of each host city, and the chance to push public transport up the agenda in your city, region, and country.

The objective is not only to create special moments, together, but to build lasting change, and a legacy left behind in each host city: for passengers, people, and public transport.
