A year of growth, transformation and global impact

UITP is proud to unveil its 2025 Activity Report, showcasing a year of achievements, innovation, and collaboration across the global public transport community.

As UITP celebrated its 140th anniversary, 2025 also marked the first year of implementation of our People First Strategic Plan 2025–2028. From strengthening advocacy and member engagement to modernising our organisation and expanding our global reach, the year was defined by progress and transformation.

We also said a massive thank you to our departing President Renee Amilcar, as we welcomed Gautier Brodeo and Lilli Matson as the association’s new President and Deputy President.

Together with our members, partners, and stakeholders, we continued to elevate public transport on the global agenda. A major milestone was the launch of World Public Transport Day, announced at the United Nations and laying the foundations for a worldwide celebration of public transport on 17 April 2026. UITP also strengthened its voice in international climate discussions, including at COP30, and continued advocating for public transport as a driver of sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities.

Across our global network, members came together through committees, working groups, regional events, training programmes, and the UITP Summit in Hamburg, which welcomed more than 10,000 participants from 108 countries. New working groups and platforms were launched across regions, while the UITP Academy delivered over 60 programmes to around 1,400 participants worldwide.

The report also highlights UITP’s growing knowledge leadership, from global mobility data and artificial intelligence to fare affordability, climate action, and metro development. Through flagship projects and publications, we continued to support innovation and evidence-based decision-making across the sector.

Internally, 2025 was a landmark year for organisational transformation. We launched a refreshed brand identity, unveiled a new website, advanced our digital transformation journey, strengthened our Academy strategy, and began the renovation of our Brussels headquarters. These milestones are helping build a more agile, innovative, and member-focused UITP for the future.

We invite you to explore the stories, milestones, and people behind our collective achievements. Whether you are a policymaker, operator, authority, researcher, or industry partner, the 2025 Activity Report offers valuable insights into how UITP and its members are advancing public transport worldwide.
