The goal of PREVENT Pre-Commercial Procurement was to augment the security in public transport through innovative procurement of technology solutions.

The proposed technologies endowed Public Transport Operators with solutions enhanced security situational awareness through:
- Timely automatic detection of potentially dangerous unattended items in Public Transport Infrastructure and in public areas in the vicinity
- Identification and tracking of perpetrators
- Advanced crisis management system
The PREVENT PCP project built on the outcomes of its predecessor, PREVENT, of which UITP was also a partner.
PREVENT PCP involved 13 public buyers from six EU countries and validated two different prototypes in four pilot locations: France, Spain, Portugal and Greece.
