Introduction

A positive shift in technology

Video surveillance is a very common technology used in public transport, especially for security purposes. In 2015 UITP, together with industry expert Axis Communications, conducted a survey among public transport organisations to get an understanding of the usage of video surveillance in public transport.

This Statistics Brief  shares the results of this survey, which demonstrates that public transport is getting smarter with the ongoing advancement of video surveillance.

Following from the success of the Statistics Brief, UITP and Axis Communications have released an extended report. This complementary publication provides a holistic view on video surveillance in public transport and includes some brand-new research elements. Chapters cover surveillance from different angles including equipment, useage, values, analytics and much more!

Support for video surveillance has grown since 2015, with 73% of respondents reporting positive reactions from passengers.
