SPACE

In March 2018, UITP was proud to launch the Shared Personalised Automated Connected vEhicles (SPACE) project, counting 45 participants from 20 countries, all members of UITP, who will collaborate for the duration of the project period of 18 to 24 months.

Led by UITP, this project aims at placing public transport at the centre of the automated vehicles (AVs) revolution and to help build the AV-public transport ecosystem.

The project’s mission embodies the ideas put forward by UITP in 2017 in our Policy Brief on Autonomous Vehicles.

Objectives

  • Assess the impacts of automated road transport systems
  • Develop operational concepts and business models for the best use of AVs in passenger services
  • Advocate for a harmonised framework to allow the safe operation of AVs in real (mixed) mobility scenarios

The project consists of four working groups and will deliver an observatory of automated vehicles based on case studies and trials.
