The project leverages technologies for ridership prediction and crowd monitoring for decision support amid disruptions & special events. Our approach encompasses staff readiness through cost/time effective on-line drills to ensure service resilience.

About this Project

The project addresses challenges, by employing technologies like Ridership Prediction Model, Smart Crowd Management System, Radio Communication Analytics System to manage crowd and predict patronage amid special events and train service disruptions.

Developing technology to accurately predict ridership is a crucial first step in managing crowds effectively. A key component of success is ensuring that staff are well prepared through practice and collaborative communication amongst teams, regulators and customers.

Yet, drills can be resource-intensive and feedback can be challenging. Innovative immersive online drills were innovated to simulate various scenarios to enhance the effectiveness of human factor considerations.

Key Highlights

Our strategy leverages AI-driven Natural Language Processing for real-time audio communication, quality feedback, incident support and historical data analysis, offering insights into event characteristics, disruptions and early dispersal impacting MTR’s services.

It also includes customized AI for people counting, crowd monitoring, digital twins integration and dynamic capacity settings.

This intelligence is utilized through our online drill platform for scenario development, enabling staff to practice communication, collaboration, and effectiveness in handling mega events and service disruptions.

These initiatives enhance transportation service planning and management.
