Introduction

UITP Academy is delighted to announce the 2nd edition of the advanced training programme and study tour on Electric Bus Planning, Operations & Maintenance, organised in collaboration with our Regional Training Centre, Shenzhen Bus Group (SZBG) — a globally recognised operator that has successfully transitioned to full electrification. This comprehensive course, running from 22–26 June 2026, combines three days of classroom training with two days of technical visits.

With most metropolitan areas targeting zero-emission mobility, an increasing number of cities and transport companies are exploring full electrification of their bus networks. In this context, UITP Academy and SZBG developed this programme to provide a complete overview of electric bus operations, maintenance, asset management, charging infrastructure, and operational optimisation through data. Participants will gain insights into fleet transition strategies, planning methodologies, technologies, and best practices in electric bus deployment worldwide.

Shenzhen Bus Group is the largest and oldest public transport operator in Shenzhen, China. After achieving full electrification, with 6,053 electric buses in 2018, SZBG has now become the largest new energy public transport operator in the world. SZBG have also been trialing electric self-driving buses on open and mixed-traffic roads since 2017. with zero accidents to date.

What You Will Learn
