Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport
€25.8 billion (2021-2027, MFF)
The Connecting Europe Facility for Transport (CEF Transport) supports investment in the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). It finances eligible infrastructure upgrades, cross-border connections, interoperability, alternative-fuels infrastructure and other priorities specified in its work programme and calls.
The programme is implemented by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). Public transport projects must meet the relevant TEN-T and call conditions. Location in a TEN-T urban node does not automatically make every local transport investment eligible.
Funding rates and eligible costs depend on the topic and funding envelope. Applicants should check the specific call conditions and contact their national CEF contact point regarding the required Member State agreement.
The Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF) supports eligible infrastructure for transport decarbonisation. Its scope varies between calls and should not be interpreted as a general grant for vehicle purchases or all forms of depot charging.
Current call information – the 2026 CEF Transport calls make €1.1 billion available and close on 6 October 2026 at 17:00 Brussels time. They include a €130 million AFIF general-envelope call with a targeted road and airport scope.
