We set out to improve the first/last mile connectivity for Hyderabad Metro commuters. That involved eight new skywalks connecting metro stations to special economic zones, malls, parking areas, railway stations, and flyovers, as well as the integration of ticketing with intercity buses.
    Project description

The success of any mass transit system lies in its effective implementation of multimodal integration. For that on the Hyderabad metro network, we planned to reduce total commute times and enhance customer convenience.

    Innovative features

We aimed to reach our goals through the following measures:

    • 100 metre pedestrian walkways on either side of all metro stations
    • 55 EV charging point across the metro network
    • 8 skywalks connecting major metro stations to special economic zones, malls, parking areas, railway stations, and flyovers
    • Bus stops at all stations
    • Feeder services on 47 routes
    • Information on commutes in the entire city, using the multimodal integration available on our mobile app
    • Integrated ticketing with intercity buses
    • Park and ride facilities at all metro stations
    • Rent-a-bike/car or taxi facilities available at major metro stations
