About:

Securing adequate funding for public transport infrastructure and service delivery is an ongoing challenge.  This is particularly the case in Australia and New Zealand where cost recovery rates from fares is often low compared to other jurisdictions, and the availability of public funds may not be sufficient to support the required pipeline of PT infrastructure projects to keep our cities and regions efficient and productive.  Through a series of keynote presentations, case studies and a facilitated roundtable, the Master Class will explore these challenges, as well as examine opportunities to secure adequate and sustainable public transport funding.

The Master Class will take place over a half day from 12pm – 5.00pm.  Following a welcome lunch, the Master Class will formally commence with some keynote speakers on local and international best practice in the area of public transport funding. This will be followed by a series of presenters from the transport sector on different funding innovations. The day will conclude with a short roundtable discussion that is aimed at eliciting the key learnings and principles from the day.

A networking drinks event, included in the registration fee, will follow from 5pm to 6pm.

Speakers include:

  • Keynote address by Infrastructure Australia
  • Mark Streeting, Partner, LEK Consulting & Dave King, Phillip Boyle & Associates
  • James McIntosh, Transport Planner/Economist, Land Use Planner, LUTI Consulting
