About: 

UITP Asia-Pacific is organizing the 3rd edition of Electric Buses Training and Study Tour in China, further to the successful training programme we had in 2017 and 2018, in cooperation with Shenzhen Bus Group Co., Ltd. (SZBG), the largest joint venture bus enterprise in China with a long standing history and a profound brand in Shenzhen, and Foton AUV Bus, Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd (Foton AUV), making up of more than 4,000 employees dedicating to the R&D, manufacturing and sales in bus and coach sector.  This training will take place during 4-8 March 2019 in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, plus a cultural visit to top-rated attractions in Guangzhou as well as experiencing a ride on Guangzhou’s famous BRT.

The programme will provide a classroom training in Shenzhen, and offer a Study Tour covering Shenzhen and Guangzhou to provide participants a rewarding experience to visit the Chinese city with significant electric bus usage, and the home for the top electric bus manufacturer in China. 

Similar to the previous training, the programme will offer a comprehensive overview of the electric solution for urban bus networks, from the setting of a city strategy, the choice of technology, the procurement of buses, all the way to the implementation and operation of the system.

Objectives of the Programme

  • Introduce the electric solution, the different types of technologies and  compare their benefits and drawbacks
  • Understand how to get value from electric buses looking at their economic, environmental and societal feasibility
  • Learn from experience on how to implement and run electric bus lines successfully
  • Understand the implications for operations and infrastructure

Methodology

  • Get inspired by our trainers, understand the main aspects of electric buses and learn from successful best practice
  • Participate to interactive plenary sessions with introduction by course leaders, presentation by the trainer and open discussion with participants
  • Address the topic from an international perspective, enriched by different cultural approaches and points of views
  • Participate to workshop allowing you to benefit from a unique exchange of knowledge and experience between professionals from all around the world

Electric Buses Study Tour in Shenzhen and Guangzhou | 6-8 March 2019

6 March – Technical visit in Shenzhen

  • Visit to BYD’s Exhibition Hall and its battery plant in Pingshan 
  • Test ride of SZBG’s  autonomous bus
  • Visit to the city’s transportation monitoring centre
  • Visit to SZBG’s Dispatching centre + charging facilities + brief introduction

7 & 8 March – Technical & Cultural Visit in Guangzhou

  • Visit to Guangzhou Public Transport Group’s bus operation 
  • Visit to Foton’s bus manufacturing plant
  • Cultural visit to famous attractions in Guangzhou
  • Ride on Guangzhou BRT (optional)

**Registration fees are transferable to another employee of the same organization but it is non-refundable.
