About:

UITP and STIB are organising a technical visit of Brussels' public transport network as part of the EU Green Week. The event is designed to highlight the fundamental role that public transport has to play in meeting today’s environmental, climate and overall urban quality of life goals, while giving a glimpse of the intricate challenges which decision-makers and future practitioners will have to face. The technical visit will be the opportunity to discover charging systems for electric buses. These systems are composed of a substation powered by the metro, as well as two fast chargers of 420kW each. In just a few minutes, these chargers are able to power two buses simultaneously, with the load required to reach the second terminal. Participants will also see the surface installations which allow buses to recharge.

The event is dedicated to EU representatives and students in the fields of urbanism, electricity and engineering.
