Advancing our presence and membership across the globe: UITP announces Kaan Yildizgoz as Senior Director of Global Growth

As an international association with more than 1900 members in over 100 countries, UITP is defined by those working every day to advance the public transport sector.

On a global level, the needs of our members outside of Europe are met by our team of dedicated regional colleagues and experts, who work tirelessly to bring them closer to our association.

Now, UITP is pleased to announce that we are strengthening our international activities with a change in the management of our global governance.

Starting from 1 October 2022, Dr Kaan Yildizgoz will become Senior Director of Global Growth, leading and coordinating all UITP activities outside Europe and taking the responsibility of membership development and retention all over the world, including within Europe. Kaan will represent the department within the UITP Management Board.

Kaan’s extensive knowledge of both the public transport sector and UITP’s activities across the globe will bring added value to our international presence. I am convinced of his ability to define a clear strategy for growth, and to facilitate, develop and improve our collaboration and responsiveness to the needs of our members.

This new direction will not only strengthen our activities around the world, but enable our members outside of Europe to have their needs within the association more effectively represented.

Our presence across the globe is defined by the activities of our members, and to further advance their presence and growth within UITP, the international membership department will remain under the direct supervision of Kaan, headed by Sebastien Desmet.

Meeting members in their home countries, and seeing up close their dedication to advancing public transport has always been a great professional pleasure for me. I am confident that by listening to their needs and wishes, I can not only best represent them within the association, but strengthen the overall membership of UITP at the same time. It’s an important time for our sector, and it is a personal honour and privilege to be asked to lead the global growth department within our association.

Kaan has served as Senior Director of Marketing and Membership Services within UITP since 2018. With a background leading our UITP Academy activities, Kaan is also a published author, focused on his expert knowledge of the taxi sector.

This new role will see Kaan make regular visits to all UITP offices across the globe, where he will meet with our regional teams, local members, partners and stakeholders – developing a new business plan and championing the needs of our members.

The new management of our Global Growth department comes into effect from the start of October.
