Introducing our 2024 keynote...

Shaping cities for the future

Styled as  the “Sensory City Philosopher” by Bloomberg, Professor Carlo Ratti is a man with an eye on urban life, working on the future of cities and the built environment.

Our cities are changing, and with public transport looking to the future in a constantly-developing world, it’s time to hear from one of the ten most-cited scholars in urban planning.

For the 2024 edition of the largest event of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition is where the sector meets to determine the future for our cities and our movement.

Innovation is key to a city built around people, and with Professor Ratti taking to the stage of our Opening Ceremony as our 2024 keynote, we are destined to hear more on what that future can look like.

During Professor Ratti’s speech, our audience will discover how digital and physical convergence shapes cities with insights on “Senseable Mobility” transforming urban mobility.

He is a founding partner of the international architecture and innovation office CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati and has established several tech start-ups in the United States and Europe.

As a Professor of the Practice of Urban Technologies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Carlo Ratti directs the Senseable City Lab, and is a Full Professor in the Department of Architecture, Built Environment, and Construction Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano.

Less asphalt, more silicon: this is the motto we should adopt as we approach the future of urban mobility. To tackle the pollution caused by traffic jams and other forms of urban congestion, cities can avoid building new physical infrastructure by using digital tools to make more of our existing resources. Across the planet, it will be essential to our future.”

The future of urban mobility...

With sustainability at the core

With Professor Ratti’s work exhibited worldwide at venues including New York City’s MoMA, the Venice Biennale, the Science Museum in London, Expo 2015 Milan, and Expo 2020 Dubai, his focus is on many scales of innovation– from products to buildings to cities.

The CRA has become the only design firm in the world to feature on TIME’s “Best Inventions of the Year” list three different times (2007, 2014, 2019).

With an international reputation, and a keen global insight, Professor Carlo Ratti is the ideal keynote speaker for an innovative, future-driven event such as the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition.

Jointly hosted by UITP and the Roads and Transport Authority Dubai, #MTCE24 will focus on ‘sustainable mobility and wellbeing’ and will reflect the unwavering dedication to creating a greener future for urban mobility through cutting-edge technologies, effective policies, and industry best practices.

The 2024 edition is a unique platform for showcasing innovative urban mobility solutions and driving progress towards a sustainable future.
