Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2018-2020, the last part of the biggest EU research and innovation funding programme ever, allocates funding of around €30 billion on the basis of competitive calls. These are open to applications from researchers, businesses and other interested organisations located in any of the EU Member States or countries associated with Horizon 2020.
Decarbonisation, digitalisation, integrated transport as well as strengthening international cooperation are some of the major topics of the “Smart, green and integrated transport” theme, clearly relating to the political priorities of the European Commission. Calls are available under this link. Horizon 2020 Transport Info Day will take place on 13 December in Brussels (Belgium) to provide potential applicants with more information.
Furthermore, the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking, a public-private partnership in the rail sector, has issued a draft Annual Work Plan 2018. The funding, allocated through calls for proposals and/or tenders, is meant to help meet key strategic priorities: cost-efficient and reliable trains, IT solutions for railway, advanced traffic management, and more. Information Day – Open Call for proposals 2018 will take place on 12 December in Brussels, Belgium.
UITP has been engaged in H2020 and Shift2Rail programmes since the beginning, participating and coordinating many of the research projects, such as EBSF_2, IT2Rail, ASSURED and others. At present, UITP is performing the assessment of the issued Calls and their relevance for the Association and its members. For more information, visit UITP Research&Innovation page.
