In the latest edition of Public Transport International magazine we’ve turned our attention to our hosts for the 61st UITP World Congress & Exhibition.
From 7 - 10 June 2015, the Italian city of Milan will play host to the 61st edition of the World Congress & Exhibition, the biggest event for public transport professionals in the world.
In latest issue of Public Transport International magazine, we've talked to the local hosts about the past, present and future of public transport in Italy. Bruno Rota from Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM) tells us about Milan's latest investments, while Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM) president Norberto Achille brings us up to speed about the changes and challenges in public transport in the Lombardy region. Massimo Roncucci, president of ASSTRA, the Italian public transport association, tells us how the crisis changed the direction of Italy's public transport plans, while Paolo Cremonesi, the editor of ASSTRA’s magazine, Transporti Publici, tells us what the future has in store for the sector.
UITP Deputy Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani also talks to PTI about the programme for the Congress and how it's been shaped by the fast-changing landscape of public transport in 2015; new additions to the 2015 include health, smart cities and risk management.
