The three year EU-funded research project NODES (New Tools for the Design and Operation of Urban Transport Interchanges) coordinated by UITP continues to attract attention beyond its official end in September 2015. Patrick Skoniezki presented the key project outcomes during the 3rd European Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans which took place in the German city of Bremen on 12 and 13 April, an event that gathered more than 400 representatives from across the world to share ideas, solutions, and success stories on this year’s theme ‘Planning the efficient city’ .
The NODES toolbox is an online catalogue of 83 integrated planning, design and management tools providing the most advanced practices for multimodal transport hubs. The open access benchmark tool helps practitioners to better assess the overall performance as well as specific aspects of their interchange(s) on the basis of the NODES indicators. As a result, a score of overall and customer-oriented performance allows to select the most relevant NODES tools that help to make improvements in the design and operation of any given interchange. A specific typology was developed for this purpose by project partners. Stakeholders are encouraged to browse the toolbox and to apply the benchmark tool under the following link.
