The 2019 Asia-Pacific Annual Meeting has successfully completed in Canberra

With the warmest thank you to all participants for attending the UITP Asia-Pacific Annual Meeting, locally hosted by Transport Canberra, held from 11- 13 November in Canberra, Australia

It made a record attendance of 174 participants from 13 countries.

The day commenced with two Platform meetings – Organising Authorities Platform and Urban Rail Platform where authorities and rail operators discussed challenges and policies on sustainable public transportation in the region. Followed by a high-level Division Meeting under the theme ‘New Mobility Services, Automation and Electrification’ featured expert presentations, panel discussions and a world café session. Topics covered by 20 renowned senior speakers from various transport operators, authorities and industry suppliers.

UITP also dedicated one session to report the progress of two working platforms as well as Centre for Transport Excellence, regional updates around the Asia-Pacific, ANZ and Global Work Programme. Not to miss our event forecast of SITCE 2020 and the 2021 Global Public Transport Summit in Melbourne.

Through welcome reception, gala dinner and a cultural tour of National Arboretum Canberra, networking opportunities were ensured for everyone.

In addition to the social activities, technical visit to offer a first-hand experience of the light rail hosted by Canberra Metro, Platinum Sponsor of the event. Thereafter the Sydney technical tour of metro and ferry services was arranged by Transport for NSW.
