A major goal of the European Rail Research Advisory Council (ERRAC) had been to outline the vision of the EU rail stakeholders on the future of the railways and the R&I actions that would help materialise this vision. This is embodied in the ERRAC Strategic Rail Research and Innovation Agenda (SRRIA) and its implementing roadmaps. After the SRRIA was published in autumn 2014, ERRAC members have been working on a set of roadmaps that will outline the way in which the SRRIA vision will be implemented. There are 10 roadmaps, each addressing the 10 main topics outlined by the SRRIA, such as customer experience, strategy and economics, environment, rolling stock, etc. UITP has been the leader of the ‘Customer Experience’ and Strategy and Economics’ Roadmaps; moreover, UITP and its members have provided input for all the other roadmaps.
The ERRAC roadmaps are now finalized and will be officially presented during the ERRAC Plenary (7 April 2016, Brussels), then in the TRA2016 event (18-21 April 2016, Warsaw). All the relevant documentation will be made public, and will be accessible through the ERRAC website as well as through the main ERRAC partners.
This entire work has been done thanks to the support of the FOSTER RAIL project, a three-year collaborative and support action (CSA) funded by the EC through FP7.
