The Observatory of Employment in Public Transport aims to provide key figures and arguments to support the advocacy efforts of UITP and its members regarding the importance of employment and recruitment in the public transport sector. It has been launched under the patronage of the Business and Human Resources Management Commission within UITP.

Focused of the quality and attractiveness of jobs in public transport in Europe, the second edition of the Observatory of Employment in Public Transport presents the main challenges in hiring and retaining staff. The report is based on a survey of 40 companies operating urban public transport services for customers in 18 European countries, and it analyses the staff profile, as well as an array of managerial practices for career development.
