UITP Secretary-General Alain Flausch and Deputy Secretary-General Mohamed Mezghani are in Casablanca for the 12th CIVITAS Forum conference.

The theme of the 2014 edition is urban mobility and social inclusion. Mr. Flausch has been invited to chair a session on the subject of the structural role of public transport in urban mobility, while Mr Mezghani will chair a session on governance and financing in the Euromed region.

UITP’s participation follows an invitation from the EU-funded Forum. The annual event is organised as part of the EU CIVITAS 2020 initiative, and its purpose is to present and discuss transport measures and policies towards sustainable urban mobility, accessibility and socio-spatial inequalities.

It brings together representatives of the CIVITAS Forum Network's member cities and of the EuroMed region, including policy makers, urban planners, mobility experts and politicians.

The conference is taking  place from 23 - 26 September in Casablanca. It will be the first non-European city to host the CIVITAS forum conference.
