Workshop Overview

As Metro Vancouver prepares to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup in 2026 and other major events, Translink and its regional partners are ready to provide a reliable, customer-focused transit experience that meets the demands of a global audience. This workshop is designed specifically for Translink staff and local stakeholders—including municipal partners, law enforcement, emergency services, and event organizers—to build a shared understanding of what it takes to operate a high-performing, integrated transit system during large-scale, high-impact events.

Drawing from global case studies, expert insights, and local context, the training will explore crowd dynamics, inter-agency coordination, operational readiness, and customer experience strategies. Through interactive sessions and scenario-based discussions, participants will strengthen their collective ability to plan, communicate, and respond as one team—ensuring Metro Vancouver is ready to shine on the global stage.

Workshop Objectives

  • Analyze fan movement and transit demand patterns to inform planning and crowd management strategies around key hubs and venues.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities across stakeholders—from frontline staff to city partners—for coordinated operations and customer support.
  • Enhance safety and security planning through integrated response protocols and real-time communication.
  • Foster collaboration and shared ownership of the event experience through scenario planning exercises.
  • Equip participants with tools, templates, and tactics that can be applied to World Cup operations and future large-scale events.
