The Kingdom of Morocco is experiencing significant development in the public transport sector, with several ambitious projects launched and underway. These initiatives aim to modernize and enhance the efficiency of transport networks, thereby strengthening urban mobility for citizens.
As part of a modernization plan for urban transport from 2024 to 2029, Morocco plans to acquire new public transport vehicles in various cities across the Kingdom, as well as modernize ticketing systems and stations.
In Casablanca, the host city for the UITP Africa and MENA Conference 2024, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was launched in March 2023 to improve the city’s urban transport system. In addition to the first tram line, operational since 2012, and other lines set to launch in September 2024, the BRT aims to provide an efficient, multimodal, and high-quality transport alternative.
The annual UITP Africa & MENA conference, which will be held in Casablanca, Morocco, on December 10, 2024, will bring together public transport stakeholders from the Middle East, North Africa (MENA), and Sub-Saharan Africa to discuss the adoption of BRT systems and promote new urban bus technologies. By implementing BRT projects in several cities, Morocco has been designated by UITP as the ideal host country to showcase practical examples of BRT implementation in these two regions.
Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be available. If needed, please collect your audio-headsets before the start of the conference at the entrance to the conference room.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for those looking to engage with the event and support its objectives.
The UITP Africa and MENA Conference in Casablanca on BRT and Clean Buses marks a significant milestone for public transport professionals and policy makers.
