About

Objective

With about 30% of the EU population living across internal border regions, cross-border public transport (CBPT) services provide important sustainable mobility solutions and facilitate cross-border activities central to the overall development of border regions. A new 2022 study published by DG REGIO has offered an inventory of cross-border public transport services and identified the obstacles to cross-border public transport provision. Moreover, the study presented a set of 31 case studies detailing selected cross-border public transport services as well as a toolbox indicating possible ways forward to overcome obstacles.

In order to actively support members and stakeholders interested in elaborating a robust and achievable sustainable mobility provisions across cross-border regions, UITP and DG REGIO are organising a  digital policy workshop on 2 February 2023, where the latest information exchange between key relevant stakeholders will be central. Based on the inputs from DG REGIO, UITP and public transport operators and authorities active in CBPT service provision, we will zero in on the latest state of play behind opportunities, challenges as well as funding available for local CBPT services

We invite all institutions, organisations and companies directly or indirectly involved in CBPT to join us at the workshop and discuss the growing potential of local cross-border mobility in shaping the future of sustainable mobility in Europe.
