The European Commission issued on 11th September the first call for projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the new financing programme for the Trans-European Transport network (TEN-T). €11.93 billion has been allocated for the 2014 CEF Transport Call; projects will be concentrated along the 9 major transport corridors (see map) which form the core transport network, due to be completed by 2030. If your city or region is part of this core network, you may consider applying for this infrastructure funding via CEF.
The 2014 Call is split into a Multi-Annual and Annual Work Programme. The priorities of the 2014 Call include studies and work aiming at integrating urban nodes in the TEN-T network, promoting the seamless connection between TEN-T long-distance and urban / regional traffic, promoting multimodal ticketing, information and traffic management systems.
Proposals can be submitted before 26 February 2015 by one or more Member States or, with the agreement of the Member States concerned, by international organisations, joint undertakings, or public or private undertakings or bodies established in the Member States. The projects must be co-financed by Member States. Winning projects will be announced in summer 2015.
