The latest developments in MENA

Known for innovative developments within urban mobility. the Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) has been inspiring other parts of the world for some time.

With the emergence of distinct game changers in the field of shared, electric and autonomous mobility, the MENA region is taking a closer look at the fundamental transformation of the urban mobility landscape.

Public transport is at the core of the mobility transition by embracing digitalisation, innovative and sustainable solutions to mobility challenges and contributing to a higher quality of urban life.

By providing testing grounds and leading innovation on many public transport fronts, MENA is the place to be.

The MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition

In April, we’ll be witness to these developments taking shape as the MENA Transport Congress & Exhibition comes to Dubai (World Trade Centre, 13-15 April 2020).

As the premiere and most attended public transport event in the Middle East and North Africa region, #MTCE2020 is organised by UITP and the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai.

As the MENA region continues to lead the way on numerous mobility advancements, the growing number of participants; increased technical expertise, networking opportunities, and an extensive exhibition of who’s who in the public transport industry make the 2020 edition one that’s not to be missed.

Who will be there and what is there to see?

The Congress Programme will focus on the emerging topics in urban mobility, including: Clean Bus (and electric mobility), Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), AI & Big-DataFirst and Last Mile, Smart Mobility Management, Safety and Security, Cities of Tomorrow, Service Excellence, and Technology Enablers.

More than 70 International and regional experts and decision makers will be part of the 2020 programme – with regional players from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and more, showcasing major public transport projects to the worldwide audience in attendance.

Held alongside the Congress will be a global Exhibition – featuring international and regional products and technologies from the likes of RTA, Transport General Authority, Saudi Arabia, Dubai Police, Volvo, INIT, Transdev, Keolis, MAN, RATP, Trapeze, Daimler, Alstom, Hyundai, DTC, ABB, VDL and more names to come.

Supported by a number of leading organisations and industry players, including FAMCO, RATP Dev, Hyundai, Etisalat, Etihad Rail and Dubai Taxi Corporation, technical Visits to the EXPO 2020 site and RTA’s Enterprise Command and Control Center (EC3) are also on the agenda for delegates.

The UITP MENA Division aims to promote public transport throughout the region, to provide opportunities for members to share their experiences and to reinforce the voice and involvement of MENA on the development of public transport on a worldwide level.
