An introduction to the next edition...

With a local touch

What does the road to the world’s largest urban mobility event look like when more than 200 CEOs, politicians, press and industry leaders gather to hear all about it?

On Thursday 15 September, UITP and our 2023 Summit local partners, FGC, TMB and Renfe welcomed guests to the beautiful Petit Palau de la Música in Barcelona for a very special event to present the Summit right in the heart of our next host city.

Working with our local partners for the UITP Global Public Transport Summit is key to delivering an incredible edition that will see Barcelona become the public transport capital of the world during 4-7 June next year.

With UITP President Khalid ALHOGAIL introducing the Global Summit to our audience, explaining the key facts and figures behind the event, all three Presidents from FGC, TMB and Renfe were also on board to discuss what it means for Barcelona to host the next edition.

So as the train prepares to pull up on the tracks in Barcelona for the next edition, what were the key takeaways from our special gathering?

As we work towards bringing the sector an unforgettable edition next June, it’s important that we make key connections at the local, national and international levels. The UITP Global Summit is an unrivalled event, and with the extremely positive reaction of the players with us in Barcelona, I know that the 2023 edition will deliver everything we expect, and more.

The key players come together...

In beautiful Barcelona

Before having the opportunity to network in our beautiful venue, the audience enjoyed a programme of speeches, a short panel discussion, special promotional videos and heard the key facts and figures on what the Summit means for the sector and host city. We also hosted a press conference with our Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani, where he addressed more than a dozen local and national journalists on the positive economical, cultural and social impacts the Summit will bring to Barcelona.

Alongside our own President, we welcomed to the stage the Presidents of FGC, TMB and Renfe, Marta Subirà, Laia Bonet and Isaías Táboas, to discuss what Barcelona will offer our Summit delegates, and what welcoming the world of urban mobility will look like.

We also had the wonderful opportunity to sign a collaboration agreement with ICEX, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, and sponsorship agreements with Indra, Alsa autobuses, Mobility ADO and Iberdrola during the event. More here!

The UITP Summit is a truly immersive experience, bringing together all sector stakeholders, industry players, authorities, operators, networks, exhibitors, decision makers, press and influencers all under one roof.

As a four day event with a diverse Conference programme and an outstanding international Exhibition full of the latest innovations, solutions and products, it’s the event for your calendars.

The 2023 edition will be the 65th UITP Global Summit, and it arrives in a city that has it all: metro, bus, tram, train and even cable cars. Full of culture, heritage and energy, Barcelona is the perfect location for the most important gathering in our sector.

With the spotlight ready to shine under our 2023 theme “Bright Light of the City”, the road to Barcelona is set. Registration opens next month! Will you be joining us?
