Dedicated to its mission of supporting capacity building in public transport, the UITP Centre for Training has been growing exponentially over the years, with training programmes organised in over 57 countries and covering over 60 public transport topics. It has also recently been selected as a winner in the Best Association Training Initiative category of the 2019 European Association Awards.

With new UITP Regional Training Centres popping up all over the world, it is high time that this humble centre for training is given a title that suits the quality of its programmes: introducing the UITP Academy!

This brand new title was officialised at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit, during the reception of the former UITP Centre for training. The reception was also the occasion for the new UITP Academy to officially launch six new Regional Training Centres during a ribbon cutting ceremony, held with all partners involved.

Our partners include Hamburger Hochbahn for the new UITP Regional Training Centre located in Hamburg, Transdev Group for the one in Paris and Consorcio Regional de Transportes for another new Centre in Madrid.

The ceremony also celebrated the launch of the UITP Regional Training Centre of Karlruhe, announced earlier this year in partnership with Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion, as well as the UITP Regional Training Centres of Istanbul and Shenzhen, respectively created in partnership with Marmara Municipalities Union and Shenzhen Bus Group and opened in February 2019.

UITP welcomes cooperation with selected members who wish to partner on delivering training courses to support capacity building in public transport.

Such members, upon approval, will be partners in establishing UITP Regional Training Centres.

Furthermore, in response to increasing demand from its members, UITP Training Programmes and all related processes are now certified for ISO29990:2010 – the standard for learning services for non-formal education and training – by two certification organisations: EUROCERT and G-Certi, accredited and approved through International Accreditation Service (IAS) and International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
