Y4PT (Youth for Public transport)

Y4PT. Making Sustainable Public Transport cool since 2005.

Who we are

Y4PT

Youth for Public Transport
(Y4PT) is an officially recognised international nonprofit non-governmental and youth-led foundation created in 2005 in Belgium by UITP, its ‘Parent Organisation’. It is sustained by the Roads and Transport Authority of the Emirate of Dubai as its ‘Honorary Founding Member’.

What we do

Y4PT encourages the active participation of young people in advocating sustainable mobility and finding transport-related opportunities worldwide. It does so by promoting the integrated use of public transport with other means of transport, striving for a greater wellbeing and increased quality of life for people worldwide. Y4PT advocates and communicates on sustainable mobility from young people’s points of view.

Y4PT is THE main channel of promotion, communication, education, employment and participation of youth in transport-related mobility issues. As such it acts as the global:

  • pro-sustainable-mobility youth movement and network
  • ” youth spokesperson on sustainable mobility
  • youth platform and forum on sustainable mobility
  •  centre of youth-oriented knowledge on sustainable mobility
  •  bank of opportunities for young people in the transport-related mobility sector

Our achievements

Since its inception Y4PT has engaged all its efforts to address sustainability and innovation in the whole transport sector which has led to different projects, activities and campaigns such as the widely acknowledged #Y4PThackathon during which numerous different actors collaborate on sustainable public transport projects and solutions. Other Y4PT events include #Y4PTAwards, #Y4PTring, #HealthyMobility, #BreathableCities, #NutriEnergy, #iCOmmit2, #ModalShift, #Idearium, and many more.
