A free webinar series: The final session

Final meeting coming...

Since the beginning of 2021, we have come together to discuss innovative urban mobility strategies in leading cities around the world. On 27 of May the final session of the Urban Transport Leader’s Council will take place.

Planned last year as a real meeting as a joint event between Moscow Transport Department and UITP, to bring together experts and professions from all over the world, The Council  adapted from the pandemic and launched a series of webinars. So far we have observed developments in various cities and seen how public transport is coming out stronger globally from the current crisis.

Session 5 -

Urban Mobility Policy

May 27, 2021 - Май 27, 2021

COVID-19 and the related restrictions have had a major impact on urban mobility with many aspects of city life grinding to a halt. But people also discovered and enjoyed a city life with less traffic and more room to walk and cycle. Road surface was converted into bike and bus lanes, remote working triggered new routines, people re-discovered their immediate neighbourhood.

The pandemic and the immediate concern for health and safety of the entire population has made changes possible that were almost unfathomable until recently. Did the pandemic also bring a fresh approach and new awareness of the value of urban room, open space and air quality?

The webinar will bring together high level executives from major cities to discuss:

  • How the disruption of city life brought about by COVID-19 could be used to redistribute urban space in favour of people
  • How working, business and schooling schedules could be adapted to avoid traffic peaks hours choking cities
  • How cities take the lessons learned during the pandemic into account when developing their urban planning strategies

  • Как нарушение городской жизни, вызванное COVID-19, можно использовать для перераспределения городского пространства в пользу людей;
  • Каким образом можно адаптировать графики работы, бизнеса и учебы, чтобы избежать пробок в городах в часы пиковых нагрузок;
