As the defining event for I.T. and digitalisation in public transport, IT-TRANS is a highlight in the global urban mobility calendar.

To best reflect the current times, the 2020 edition of IT-TRANS – originally planned for March of this year – will transform into a fully digital event (online, 1-3 December 2020).

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to advance across Europe, and many other parts of the world, the safety of everyone involved is always our number one priority.

By moving to a fully-digital edition for 2020, we follow the ruling set by the local German authorities.

By bringing the public transport sector together virtually, the next IT-TRANS, jointly hosted by UITP and Messe Karlsruhe, will reflect on the changes brought about by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and highlight the importance of digitalisation within our sector.

The digital world continues to develop – and IT-TRANS needs to be part of that discussion.

With a sector-leading programme and a world-class exhibition, all now online, we know that we can still bring you a 2020 edition to remember.

We will bring you top-level content, along with outstanding speakers and access to online networking opportunities.

The coronavirus pandemic has posed new challenges for many sectors and events, with public transport greatly impacted. By bringing you a 2020 edition to remember, IT-TRANS can remain a platform for global innovation.

The relevance of digitalisation in the public transport sector has become even clearer in recent months. For this reason, IT-TRANS is a much-needed network hub and economic driver for the global mobility community, but above all it is an important exchange platform for discussing and developing digital tools for future urban mobility
Mohamed Mezghani*
Secretary General of UITP

As a fully-digital edition, IT-TRANS will join UITP’s Digital World Tour of events.

So as there’s a lot to update you on…let’s break it down for you right now!

What has changed for the 2020 edition of IT-TRANS?

IT-TRANS, coming into its seventh edition, is jointly hosted by UITP and Messe Karlsruhe.

We will host a digital edition for 2020, and the next physical edition remains in place for March 2022.

Both organisers have worked together to make sure that this edition reflects the current times we find ourselves in, and the move away from a physical edition follows the rulings and advice of the local authorities in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.

Any updates on the programme and speakers?

Our digital programme will host interesting sessions with recognisable speakers, covering all key themes: Digital transformation, AI and the IoT, autonomous mobility, MaaS, ticketing and payment, on-demand and shared mobility, data ownership and governance and intelligent city traffic management.

We will announce exciting updates to our prorgamme and speakers list in due course.

Any news on the Exhibition?

You can visit the exhibition online to see many global names offer up the newest technologies and latest innovations across all three days.

A virtual exhibition will allow you to experience the vision and insight from numerous high-profile exhibitors by connecting with them throughout the event.

How do I buy my ticket for this digital edition?

You canvisit the IT-TRANS website which will be updated with all the new information that you require for the 2020 IT-TRANS.

You can then add IT-TRANS to your digital December calendar with a pass for the entire online event!

Bringing the public transport community together has taken on a different form this year, and the next IT-TRANS will reflect on the changes brought about by the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. The digital world continues to develop during COVID-19 – and IT-TRANS will continue to be part of that discussion by highlighting the importance of digitalisation within our sector
Jaspal Singh
Senior Expert in I.T. and Development

And what about the Taxi and Ride-Hailing Digital Conference?

The next edition of the Taxi and Ride-Hailing Event (2-3 December 2020) will still be jointly hosted by UITP and Messe Karlsruhe and is now also  a fully-digital experience, under the theme ‘Smart Personal Rides’.

As the only event of its kind to bring the taxi and ride-hailing sectors together to consider the future, you can hear from international speakers across two days’ worth of sessions as they discuss the latest developments in the taxi and app revolution.

We may not be there in person for the 2020 edition, but you can still get to know more about the city of Karlsruhe as we invite the innovation.
